The Autonomous Centre of Edinburgh has moved!
The Autonomous Centre of Edinburgh has moved to a new temporary base at Edinburgh Palette, 525 Ferry Road Edinburgh EH5 2FF. As many will have heard ACE is having to move since the West Montgomery Place premises, which we have rented since 1997, are being sold.
The new postal address is ACE c/o 33 Tower Street, Edinburgh, EH6 7BN (mail only). This address is working now and from 9 July we cannot be sure to receive mail sent to West Montgomery Place. Apart from the postal address ACE contact details remain the same. Email acemail@gmx.co.uk or ring 07421 388508 – calls are being forwarded to a mobile number and you will normally get a voicemail.
ACE thanks Edinburgh Palette for our new home. However we are continuing our search for new longer-term premises. The Scottish Radical Library and the Autonomous Archive are in safe storage and we are keen to find a new base which will have space for these resources and for meetings, gatherings and organising.
We very much want to work with other like-minded groups and individuals to create a new activist space for Edinburgh. We have already made links and are looking forward to developing these further. We are equally looking forward to making new connections so, if you are interested, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Together we can transform this sad moment of leaving West Montgomery Place into a moment for creating wonderful new connections.
As the climate crisis and cost of living crisis intensify, there is more need than ever for a base for grass-roots anti authoritarian organising to resist capitalism, patriarchy and all oppression. If you or your group are interested in this project please get in touch. More on this soon.
Edinburgh Coalition Against Poverty weekly support sessions will continue every Tuesday at Ferry Road, starting from Tuesday 12 July – contact ECAP to make an appointment at ecapmail@gmail.com or leave a message at 07421 388508. Plus ECAP welcomes participation in their regular jobcentre stalls.
525 Ferry Road is fully accessible, on bus routes 19, 21, 24, 27, 29, 37, 38, 47, 113, and situated by Crewe Toll is only 15 minutes from the west end of Princes Street by bus. At present we do not have any public drop-in times but do get in touch if you would like to meet us or participate in our regular meetings, currently online.
* Many thanks to all who are supporting ACE with regular contributions or who have made donations. If you would like to support ACE so we have the resources to fund a new activist space for Edinburgh, donate at https://autonomous.org.uk/ or email acemail@gmx.co.uk to get details of how to set up a standing order or make a bank transfer.
