7) ECAP TUESDAY SUPPORT SESSIONS AT ACE
Edinburgh Coalition Against Poverty run a free support and solidarity session every Tuesday at ACE, for benefit hassles, debt, housing problems etc.
Isolated, claimants can be bullied and harassed. With the backing of a group we are much stronger.
We are not paid professionals or lawyers. We are all volunteers and almost all claimants ourselves. We are independent of all authorities and are totally on the side of the claimant.
To keep people safe in the Covid pandemic the Tuesday sessions are now strictly appointment-only. If you need solidarity on a benefits or poverty-related issue we’re asking people to email ecap@lists.riseup.net , Facebook private message or leave a message at 0131 557 6242, to organise an appointment. You can also now phone us between 12 and 3pm on a Tuesday and one of us will be able to talk to you. More info.

HOW TO STOP A MEGA PROJECT
Speakers from the direct action struggles against the “Maya Train” in Mexico and HS2 in Britain.
Hosted by COP26 Coalition, Red Universitaria Anticapitalista and London Mexico Solidarity
7.30pm Sat 14 November
Online event https://zoom.us/j/98779755858
Register ( this registers you for the full COP 26 programme) https://cop26coalition.org/global-gathering-programme/
Speakers are Ángel Sulub of the National Indigenous Congress, Diana Itzu of the Ajmaq Network of Resistance and Rebellion, both from Mexico, and Rowen, campaigner against the HS2. The Maya Train (Tren Maya) is a very destructive capitalist megaproject in Mexico aiming to build a railway from Cancun to Palenque, Chiapas. This will require not only the expansion of the fossil fuel economy and the destruction of vast wildlife areas and expansion of irrational urbanization, but also the dispossession and exploitation of indigenous Mayan lands and culture. The Zapatistas and the National Indigenous Congress are among those pledged to resist.
